TGIF! I've never been one to know much about the Day of the Dead celebration. A friend of mine is hosting a swap celebrating this event, which is also part of her heritage. I did a search for images and found the greatest website. Click the photos and you'll be transported right to it. It's just FUN! They sell funky day of the dead skeletons, chocolate & sugar molds...I want a sugar Frida skull!! For those of you who might not know...and I'm probably going to get this wrong...but, from what I understand, the Day of the Dead is NOT some demonic, gross, yucky celebration. It's a time when the living celebrate the lives of their loved ones who are no longer living. There is a big celebration celebrating these lost loved ones. I read that they often have big "pot luck" dinners, parties, etc at the burial sights...*read: graveyard* and it's NOT spooky...it's not at midnight with lit candles and whoopie goldberg doing a little "communicating"...it's just celebrating the lives of those who they can no longer touch. oxox
