I used to live in México, and for Día de los Muertos, we went to a cemetary in the evening. It's not as spooky ooky as one might think. It was actually very spiritual, and it was nice to know that people were celebrating deceased one's lives, not deaths. And you're right, people bring food and other ofrendas (offerings) for the dead. The sugar skulls (calaveras) are also offerings that people leave out too.

...gosh I'm glad you explained that cuz I've always wondered what it was all about and of course remembering and celebrating your loved and important ones is so special.
