I've been finishing up my Faux Tin Type photo article and project to be sent off to Cloth Paper Scissors for their next issue. Tell me you've seen their Premier Issue!! It's absolutely incredible!! It's so exciting to see another GREAT mixed media magazine on the news stands. As some of you know, I've been on a horrible emotional rollercoaster for over a week now. I think I've aged a few years because of it. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, I've really needed them. Today was actually a good day. It stated off a little stressful. I took Kimber in for her 8am dentist appointment to find out she would be getting a root canal...it's now over and she did a great job. She's a little trouper and I'm proud. Unfortunately, the dead nerve had started getting an infection...so, instead of completely sealing the tooth, the dentist used a rubber sealer and plans to go back in and look around in two weeks. :( So, the good part?? Where is it, you ask?? Well, I finally got my copy of Altered Art by Terry Taylor...it's my first official BOOK to be published in. Terry was keeping the whole thing a secret, wouldn't tell me what he'd published of mine...so, opening it up and sifting through every page was like going on a treasure hunt. I'm really happy with how my work was shown...(they have a picture of my Pandora's Box altered book on the top right corner of the cover and a couple of pages showing my cover and pages inside with how tos & a couple of my Artist Trading Cards as their sample in the Artist Trading Card column portion of the book. I only have one complaint...they quoted me at the top of my two pages of the Altered Book.....and mispelled Scissors. When I read it, I thought, "What the heck?? that dumb girl can't even spell scissors!"...because it looks like it was ME who spelled it wrong, since it was in quotes. The truth is, I'm a totally crappy speller since I'm usually typing at warp speed just wanting to get all my thoughts out...but in a BOOK?? Scisscors?? UGGH! Okay, so, that was good part #1. Good part #2....I got a phone call from the makers of my new rubber stamp line...(I'm not a rubber stamper, so I'm feeling the need to learn, real quick!)...my stamps were ready for me to pick up. I got one of each from the set of 25. I was so excited to actually see them, hold them and felt complete ownership of them. I was in heaven...and even better, when the owner, Joyce's husband heard I was there...he came up to the shop from the manufacturing shop to talk to me about one of the designs that I needed to fix...(nothing big). He had been nervous about my designs since they're so totally different than what the store has always carried. Peddlers Pack Stampworks main business is as a manufacturer but they also have a great little shop. They've been pretty exclusive in having traditional rubber stamps. Fun, whimsical, holidays, flowers, etc., stamps. I designed mine for mixed media artists to use in their work... I'd been a little worried since he was. I knew they were investing lots of money and who ever knows what will happen? So, today was the official day of selling them. They sent out the catalogues to their customers all over last week and have already sold over 225 of my stamps! Thank you GOD....I could totally see it in his eyes that he was feeling better about the project. One less thing to worry about. thanks for letting me blab. oxox
